Highlights of the month
The WASH Cluster monitoring system has been updated following the Strategy MTR. This may cause temporarily some data related to villages to be incomplete or inaccurate.
Generalized delay in the constructions, such as latrines upgrades or rehabilitation and drainage channels. Therefore, the mitigation of the rainy season has been delayed, several sites are suffering of floods and associated damages.
The Regional of WASH Cluster has lead an assessment on Accountability to affected populations (AAP). 17 sites have been surveyed, 8 WASH agencies contributed. The results and recommendations are expected in the coming weeks.
After two months of good relationships with the communities in Myebon and a sense of common understanding, the intervention is again slowed down by host communities resistance.
After over two months of interventions in Ah Nauk Ye camp (Pauk Taw), the departure of a Camp Committee member after Government intervention has finally resulted in a regained access and full NGO presence.
After months of communities’ resistance in Rathedaung and reduced support from the local administration, the overall acceptance of the NGO pres-ence and work seems to have changed.
WASH Cluster M&E is on progress. The draft strategy has been shared, training of CCCM staff is ongoing. Pilots have taken place in Bassara camp (Sittwe).
